Designed around the site, not just the span
On a constrained London site, how the roof arrives matters as much as how it performs. Trusses that have to be craned over a house in one lift, or carried through a side passage by hand, need to be designed that way from the start. We manufacture individual sections up to 4.5 metres high and prefabricated trussed rafters spanning up to 16 metres, and we can break a roof into sections that suit your access rather than assuming a lorry can park alongside. Tell us the constraint when you order and we will design and load around it.
Attic trusses for loft conversions
London’s terraced and semi-detached housing stock is the reason loft conversions are so common here. Attic trusses create genuinely usable floor space inside the roof void with the structural work already built in, so you get a room rather than a space crossed by webs. That matters most where the roofline cannot be raised, either because of what sits above it or because permission would not be granted. We design attic trusses to the head height and floor area your drawings call for, rather than to a standard section.
Conservation areas and matching an existing roofline
Large parts of London sit inside conservation areas, where an extension or conversion has to read as though it belongs to the original building. In practice that means matching pitch, eaves detail and ridge height closely, and it is far easier to get right in the truss design than to correct on site. Send us the approved drawings and we will manufacture to them. Where the pitch is unusual or the existing structure has settled, our free site measure service means the truss is designed around the building as it stands rather than as it was drawn.
