Last weekend the Minera Roof Trusses clan made their annual staff trip to Chester Races and my goodness did we and the other 20,000 attendees pick a HOT day for it! After the long spell of wet and miserable weather we’ve endured in Minera recently, I think it’s fair to say temperatures reaching 26 degrees was a stark contrast!
The day started early – Lisa, our Health & Safety Coordinator or better known in the office as Head Party Organiser requested that we meet in our local pub to kick-start the day’s events in the right way – with a drink in hand of course! By 12:30pm we had arrived at the racecourse in our mini bus – thanks to Wrexham Prestige for helping us get there in one piece.
It will probably come as no surprise that there were a few winners (and losers) amongst the group but the best win came from our electrician Anth, who came along as a guest of Minera Roof Trusses; He won £60 on the first race!
Luckily, the high temperatures became much more manageable towards the later part of the afternoon and with the aid of jugs of Pimms and beer we were all able to cool down and step away from the shade of the outdoor bar.
Overall, we had a great day with many of us venturing into Chester after the last horse had crossed the finishing line. Thank you to everyone who was able to come along. We’re looking forward to next year where we can do it all over again!
