FAQ
Please find below a list of frequently asked questions which our technical staff have come across in our many years.
We appreciate that we are not open 24 hours a day and many of our customers will work outside of our hours, but rest assured,
you can email our department at any time, but maybe the question that you need the answer to is listed below.
A.
Unfortunately, no alterations can be carried out to any truss without
consultation with Minera Roof Trusses.
We have had the question asked many times before.
My electrician is running a few wires along my roof can he drill holes in the timber to feed the wiring through?
Can I cut my roof trusses? Can I drill a hole in
the trusses to fit the plumbing through?
Usually we get the question asked AFTER they've done it. Thats TOO LATE!
Again, Never cut, drill or alter trusses. They are designed specifically to support your roof and it is a complete unit. Making any alteration, cutting or drilling is
drastically altering the way the forces are transferred into the timber and plates. Doing so will invalidate the design of the trusses.
Any work that may alter the structure at a later date should of be discussed
with Minera Roof Trusses BEFORE the
manufacturing process has begun, ideally when the project is in Order Stage.
Occasionally it may be possible to carry out a remedial detail on site to the affected
roof trusses by our Engineers and there is likely to be a cost involved.
