Introducing a new ECO Friendly Floor Joist Product THE ECOJOIST
Minera Roof Trusses are always evolving to an ever changing market and an ever changing world. For the past
33 years, Minera Roof Trusses have always been at the forefront of the market, in terms of professional products and
the highest quality of service available to the customer.
We are now pleased to launch alongside our successful Roof Trusses and Attic Trusses, the new Eco friendly, services
friendly, Engineered Floor Joist product, the ECOJOIST.
The EcoJoist is a revolutionary new product
designed with two major factors in mind.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
With traditional floor joists, sizes of 225 x 50 or 225 x 75mm are used. With the
ecojoist,
the only timber that is used is 97 x 47mm. The floor depth can still be 219mm deep, but the
key difference is that the middle of the web is not timber, but a V shape Metal Web.
How can a floor joist work at 219mm deep but is only using 97 x 47mm timber?
Well, the special V plate
is made of high quality galvanised steel. Each joist is specially designed by our resident engineers to
the correct loading for your project, for example, residential loading to office loading to flats loadings.
The ecojoist can be used in any of those conditions.
And you are not restricted to one type of decking. Floor material can range from Chipboard to plywood or concrete screed.
If you supply our engineers exactly what you wish to do with your floor then Minera Roof Trusses can design an Ecojoist floor
to suit your needs, Free of charge from our well reknown Technical Support service.
BUILDER / ELECTRICIAN / PLUMBER TRADE FRIENDLY
We mentioned TWO major reasons. The second reason is that the Ecojoist is Trade friendly.
What do we mean by Trade Friendly?
Well, the Ecojoist is designed with the trade in mind. The builders, the electricians,
the plumbers.
The design shape of the Ecojoist allows for the easy quick installation of ALL your services. No more drilling, notching
to allow for all your pipes. If you did not know, drilling or notching a traditional floor joist WEAKENS your joist and that is
what WILL give you SQUEAKS as your timber is deflecting more than it is allowed to.
If the joist were to have ALL these holes in then it would probably be increased in size and that
would be throughout the entire floor.
With the Ecojoist, all your services, that's your wiring for your lights, your electrical plug sockets and home entertainment
cabling, copper pipework or plastic pipework and vent ducting can all be installed BETWEEEN the V SHAPED WEBS.
PRACTICAL BENEFITS
|
•
|
Environmentally timber - Uses less timber than traditional floor joists. |
|
• |
Open web system gives almost uninterrupted
access for the passage of services, which elimiinates unauthorised drilling/notching and a reduction/elimination of surface run pipework. |
|
• |
72/97mm wide flanges provide a large area for the fixing of floor deck and ceiling. |
|
• |
Depth of joists compatible with solid joist sizes. |
|
• |
Engineered and manufactured by Minera Roof Trusses to exact site measurements which reduces site wastage. |
|
• |
Minimal shrinkage or swelling which reduces noise in the floor zone, i.e. SQUEAKS. |
|
• |
As two thirds of the joist is removed and replaced with a high density galvanised metal plate,
they are of a lightweight construction, easier to handle on site. |
|
• |
Easier to handle on site = Erection of ecojoists in approximately 50% of the time required for traditional floor joists. |
|
• |
The ecojoist can be top chord supported meaning that only 97 x 47mm of timber will be inserted into your brickwork wall helping
noise requirements as less timber is present, and top chord supported is also useful for support on top of timber beams or timber lintols. |
|
• |
A viable alternative to concrete floors for flat and office developments.
|
|
• |
Can be preservative treated in our factory to prolong timber life and to prevent insect attack, unlike our other engineered floor product. |
|
• |
As the product is fully engineered, structural calculations can be handed to your building inspector at your Local Authority. |
